Merit scholarships
Domestic and international students of exceptional achievement may be selected upon admission to Binghamton for one of three types of significant four-year scholarship commitments: President’s Scholarship, Provost’s Scholarship and Dean’s Scholarship. There is no application process; awards are competitive and vary in amount. Full-time enrollment and minimum grade-point-averages are required to maintain eligibility.

Merit Scholarships:
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions awards merit scholarships to newly admitted freshmen and transfer students with noteworthy achievements. All accepted students are considered for these awards, so an application is not necessary.
The University at Albany Global Excellence Scholarships are awarded to incoming international students based on academic achievement as well as other qualifications, as determined by the admissions committee.
The maximum scholarship award is $17,500 per year for freshmen applicants, for a potential total of $70,000 over four years. These scholarships are renewable, provided that the student maintains a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and remains continuously enrolled as a full time student at UAlbany paying non-resident tuition.
Stony Brook University of New York

Out-of-state tuition waiver:
At Texas Tech University will pay $11,852 annually in tuition and fees, while out-of-state students will pay $24,122. Over the course of four years, a tuition waiver would save you $49,080.
However, earning an out-of-state tuition waiver often comes with special rules and requirements. For example, at Texas Tech, only international students who receive a merit-based scholarship for $1,000 or more will qualify for the waiver.
